1. The Lace Dress

Alright, I understand that there are some nice lace dresses, but that doesn't mean that everyone should be wearing them like they're Isabel Marant sneaker wedges. I know that some people may like this dress, it's pretty, but when I see you walking out of Delia's in the same outfit that's on the mannequin in the window- come on.
2. Abercrombie and Fitch Vomited On You

So many thoughts right now. What the fuck is this Abercrombie? Not only are girls today wearing clothes that are just walking advertisements, but 11 year olds are showing their stomach on a day to day basis. Now I understand wanting to wear some mascara, maybe show some bra strap or something, but what the fuck is with this trend of having young girls show skin?
3. Leggings aren't pants

Leggings aren't pants! They just aren't! Wear a skirt, or do something, but they aren't fucking pants, okay? I am Blair Waldorf when it comes to this subject, because it drives me crazy when people wear leggings as pants. They don't have a style, they don't look nice, they just look like shit. And I understand that you want to be comfortable. Wear jeans, maybe?
Whew, I'm glad I got all of that out. All that I am trying to say is that there has to be a connection between the person and the clothes. Right now, teenagers in general are being dressed by advertisers. Mix things up, try vintage, try something new. But PLEASE don't just wear something because everyone else is.

ive been following your blog for a while now and im LOVING it.
ReplyDeleteWow, that really just made my day! I'm so happy that you like my blog *blush*.
DeleteEven worse - girls who wear pantyhose as pants. I've seen it, it happens. :\
ReplyDeleteI agree , everyone is tempted to look like everyone else, and finding your own style takes years for most. And being a teen does get difficult with all the peer pressure.... but teens must be educated maybe about the importance of having your own true style and not worrying about fitting in.
ReplyDeleteTotally relevant post... all three points are true !
