Spring has snuck up and bit me in the ass. I was so busy complaining about the never ending winter I was having, and then dealing with all of the rain going on for the last week, that I didn't check the weather this morning and went off to school in some fabulous Zara sweatpants and some boots. BAD IDEA.
I felt like Satan was attacking me with a blow-torch. I was so hot plus I was wearing my new Phillip Lim and I was worried about ruining it- so all in all not a very good idea wearing long pants in the spring/summertime.
So all of that shit got me thinking about shorts (which is what I changed into when I got home). And everywhere, people seem to be wearing denim shorts. Is that a thing now? Anyways, there is one thing I have to call people out on.

This. is. not. okay. I'm sorry if you like this, but I just can't. Jean shorts with the pockets hanging out makes a little part of me die each time I see a pair. They just don't work.
But how short is too short?

At the Chanel resort show, the upper thigh was not off limits. Super-short shorts (assuming that they don't have pockets hanging out) are fabulous with a pair of nude heels making your legs looks miles long.

At Bottega Veneta, they showed this fabulous pair of shorts that are a little bit more modest. I love the design and colors of the paint strokes, plus how high-waisted and masculine they are, then balanced out with a feminine top. They still aren't my ideal short though, seeing as how I can't find one grain of sexuality.

Then they went in the complete other direction and made shorts so short that you better not miss a waxing appointment if you want to wear these. Just like in the first outfit, there is a contrast, but in this look it's between thin and small (the shorts), and something thick, large, and embellished (the top).

Diesel black gold decided to show everybody up and make shorts that are NOT ONLY short and tight, but they're also leather. They don't look comfortable at all, plus I don't love the length of them in accordance with the whole outfit.

Christian Dior didn't even show shorts- yet it still managed to contain my favorite springtime looks. No other resort collection I have seen- YET- has a short length that I have loved. Of course, if you're a model you could pull off any of them. But Chanel, Bottega, and Diesel were too short. I like the longer shorts from Bottega, but they don't look very sexy. Someone needs to show me a pair of shorts that are sexy without being too short and skimpy.
So for now, I'll stick with long pants and crop-tops from Dior. What's your ideal short length?
